Dear Lady Mackenzie Families,
Over the past few weeks, there have been numerous discussions among staff, students, and parents regarding the need to address an increase in positive student behavior, which administration has recognized and taken steps to address.
Students engaged in a survey regarding wellness. A particular question asked students to identify an area of improvement for Lady Mac. Students responded at a high rate that a specific area of improvement is “if everyone was more kind and respectful.” We also recognize the importance of cultivating a more positive and inclusive environment where all members of the community feel valued and respected. It is clear that there is a shared understanding and desire among students, staff, and administration for a focus on creating a culture of kindness and respect.
In order to address this need, we are reaching out to inform you that our school community will be placing a strong focus on promoting respectful communication and positive interactions among students. It is essential that we collaborate to establish a safe and inclusive learning environment where every individual is valued and respected.
To support this initiative, there will be an assembly on March 1st, along with daily classroom activities planned over the next few weeks. These activities aim to reinforce the importance of using appropriate language and fostering a culture of respect and empathy within our school community.
We kindly ask for your help in encouraging your child to be mindful of their words and considerate of others’ feelings. Your support in reinforcing this message at home is greatly appreciated as we work together to create a nurturing environment at Lady Mackenzie School.
