Yesterday, the Grade 8 students from Lady Mackenzie took an exciting step toward their future by travelling to Fenelon Falls Secondary School for the annual May Day transition event. This visit serves as a vital milestone in their journey toward high school, providing a welcoming environment where students can begin to bridge the gap between elementary and secondary life. During their visit, the students were treated to a comprehensive tour of the facilities, helping them navigate the hallways and locate key areas like the gym and cafeteria to ensure they feel at home come September.
The day was about more than just geography, however; it was a fantastic opportunity for social connection. Our students spent the day meeting and mingling with fellow Grade 8s from across the region who will also be joining the FFSS community in the fall. Through a series of organized games and icebreaker activities, they began building the friendships and support networks that are so essential for a smooth transition. We are all incredibly excited for our Grade 8s as they embark on this next chapter, and we look forward to seeing them thrive in their new school environment.
May Day Fun!
