Welcome

 Message from the Principal

Dear Parents/Guardians;

    It is hard to believe that summer is over and another school year is upon us.  What a beautiful summer it was. Hopefully you were able to spend some valuable time with your family and friends.

              I am excited to begin my third year as Principal of Lady Mackenzie Public School.  I look forward to working with students, parents, community members and staff to ensure our students are successful and enjoy their time at LMPS.

I am excited to introduce Ms. Dawn Sudsbury as our vice principal.  She has successfully performed a similar role at Ridgewood Public School in the past and it is reassuring to see that all of her hard work and professionalism has been noticed and she has been offered this excellent opportunity.  We are thrilled to have her as a part of our LMPS team.

In my first two years I learned a lot about this great community. Through observations and conversations with parents, students and staff over the past year a few trends have become clearly evident.  First, our students at Lady Mackenzie are caring, compassionate and hardworking.  Secondly, our staff is dedicated and committed to ensuring that our school is a safe and caring place for everyone.  Lastly, our community, our parents and our neighbours are engaged and supportive.  We want to continue working together to improve in these areas and provide the best possible learning environment for our students.

I want to thank our teaching staff and our educational assistants for working diligently over the summer to ensure our classrooms are setup into an optimal learning environment for our students and the programming we will provide for our students is rich and relevant.  I would also like to thank our custodial staff for their hard work over the summer.  The school looks great!  Lastly, I would like to thank our secretarial staff for all of their efforts in getting ready for the first week of school.  I would like to welcome Ms. Heather Ludlow who will be teaching intermediate French and science, Ms. Jamie Simpson who is teaching JK/SK, Mr. Rory Ellis who is teaching grade 7 and Ms. Jennifer Warlich our new grade 1 teacher.  I would also like to welcome our new EA Ms. Rhonda Nicholson to LMPS.  We are both privileged and excited to have all of you as part of our team.

As we continue our journey this year together, I encourage all of you to engage in learning with your child(ren) at home and at school.  If we (parents, students, school staff) work together as a team your child will succeed.  If you have any questions I always encourage you to get into touch with your child’s teacher and he/she will be able to assist you anyway they can.  I do however, want to invite you to pop into the office, or give me a call if anything arises and you are in need of our support.

Ms. Sudsbury and I have been speaking with and will continue to speak with our students about the three words they found to be most important to Lady Mackenzie.  They voted that being Respectful, Responsible and Honest are what we should all strive to be at LMPS.  Treating others the way we would like to be treated, completing our work to the best of our ability, and owning our mistakes when we make them and making the situation better will be our areas of focus this year.

We are so excited to work with you this school year.  An excellent way for us to begin is to get reacquainted at our opening Barbeque.  I would like to extend an invitation to your family to attend the “Meet the Teacher BBQ” which takes place on Thursday, September 13th, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.  I am looking forward to seeing you there.

Jamie Stone, Principal
